IATF2027 Set for Lagos: A Historic Return After 50 Years

The Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2027) is set to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, 50 years after the Festac '77 event, highlighting Nigeria's role as Africa's largest economy. The event aims to foster economic integration among African nations, with significant participation expected from 250 million people across the continent.

Professor Benedict Oramah emphasized the importance of Nigeria hosting this event, which is anticipated to create substantial economic opportunities. The fair will be held in a venue built 50 years ago, which has been renovated to accommodate the event.

Concerns about infrastructure and traffic in Lagos have been raised, but the Nigerian government, alongside the CIBN, is committed to ensuring the event's success. The IATF2027 is expected to attract foreign investment and promote intra-African trade, particularly benefiting the ECOWAS region, which consists of predominantly agricultural countries.

The event is seen as a critical step towards realizing the African economic integration dream.
