Ibadan Landlords Demand Compensation from Governor Makinde

Landlords and property owners from six local government areas in Ibadan, affected by the ongoing construction of the Ibadan Circular Road, have appealed to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for compensation before the end of his administration. This appeal was made during a meeting with Abimbola Adekanmbi, the gubernatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, attended by hundreds of stakeholders including traditional rulers.

The Ibadan Circular Road project was initiated during Rasidi Ladoja's administration and construction began under the immediate past governor, Abiola Ajimobi. The ongoing construction has impacted numerous properties in Akinyele, Egbeda, Ido, Oluyole, Lagelu, and Ona Ara.

Although Governor Makinde approved N5.8 billion for compensation in April, the victims have yet to receive any payments. Prince Niyi Fasoye, representing the victims, urged Adekanmbi to advocate for them, emphasizing the need for resolution before the upcoming elections.

Adekanmbi acknowledged the administration's efforts to ensure timely compensation for verified victims.
