ICAN Oluyole District Funds WAEC Fees for 100 Students

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Oluyole District, Ibadan, has paid the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees for 100 students from Oba Akinyele Model School and St. Louis Grammar School, with each school receiving N2 million for 50 students. This initiative marks ICAN Oluyole District's second anniversary and reflects its commitment to community development and investment in the future of young Nigerians.

Dr Olawale Dopemu, Chairman of ICAN Oluyole District, emphasized the importance of encouraging students, especially those in commercial subjects, to pursue careers in accounting. The district plans to adopt some students for sponsorship and mentorship throughout their academic journey.

Tolulope Olatoyan, the General Secretary, stated the initiative aims to strengthen ties between the accounting profession and the community. The principals of both schools, Mrs Adebisi Adebanji and Mrs Shadare Abosede, expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting its significance in alleviating the financial burden of examination fees.
