ICAN Advocates for Stronger Audit Collaboration in Lagos

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has called for enhanced professional collaboration with the Office of the Auditor-General of Lagos State to improve standards in public sector accounting, auditing, and financial management. This call was made during a courtesy visit by ICAN executives from the Lagos State Public Service Chapter and Ifako-Ijaiye and District Society, led by Suarau Oluwatoyin, FCA, and Olofinsawe Phillips Alaba, FCA.

The Acting State Auditor-General, Dr Olufunke Tayo-Makanjuola, received the delegation and expressed her commitment to fostering a productive relationship with ICAN. The meeting allowed both parties to discuss shared professional interests, particularly the importance of accounting and auditing standards in promoting accountability and sound financial management in the public sector.

The ICAN representatives aimed to strengthen ties with the state audit office and enhance collaboration on public sector financial practices. A significant moment during the visit was the decoration of Dr Tayo-Makanjuola by the ICAN delegation in recognition of her professional affiliation with the institute.
