Governor Idris Seeks UK Investment for Kebbi Power Supply

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State is actively seeking investment from the United Kingdom to improve the state's power supply. He is currently participating in an international energy summit organized by the Kaduna Electric Distribution Company in London.

The summit focuses on strategies to boost energy access and unlock investment opportunities in the region. Governor Idris emphasized that improving power supply is central to his administration's industrialization agenda and socio-economic development.

He aims to engage credible investors and technical experts to build sustainable power infrastructure that will support various sectors, including agriculture and mining. The administration has approved several interventions to stabilize power supply, including the procurement of a 15MVA transformer valued at N650 million and additional accessories worth N520 million.

Monthly support packages of N150 million for the Kaduna Electric Distribution Company have also been approved. The governor believes that the full implementation of the Electricity Act 2023 will allow Kebbi to manage its power generation and reduce reliance on the national grid.
