IG Disu Warns Against Recording Police Operations

Olatunji Disu, the Inspector General of Police, issued a warning to content creators, social media users, and the public against the indiscriminate recording and circulation of police-related videos. He expressed concern that this trend undermines security operations and demoralizes police officers.

During an interactive session with crime correspondents in Abuja, Disu emphasized the importance of transparency while also highlighting the need for responsible media coverage. He cautioned against the circulation of old, manipulated videos that misrepresent recent events, stating that such actions could fuel public anxiety and harm national security efforts.

Disu reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to address misconduct among personnel and assured that officers found guilty of wrongdoing would face disciplinary actions. He also noted the increasing demands on police officers, who are working extended hours under challenging conditions to maintain public safety.
