Kalu Threatens APC Resignation Over Tinubu's Disrespect

Orji Uzor Kalu, the Senator for Abia North, declared that he would resign from the All Progressives Congress (APC) if President Bola Tinubu disrespects the opposition or the Catholic Church. Kalu made these remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he discussed the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He argued that it is unrealistic for opposition politicians to expect special treatment from the ruling party, asserting that political competition does not necessitate the ruling party to ease the path for its opponents. Kalu defended Tinubu's approach, stating that the President has been fair in his dealings with opposition figures and that politicians who respect the law should not fear the government.

He maintained that the President's refusal to provide a "red carpet" for opposition reflects the competitive nature of politics. Kalu reiterated his commitment to fairness and truth in politics, emphasizing that any disrespect towards the opposition or the Catholic Church would prompt his resignation from the APC.
