Tinubu's Aide Defends President Against Obi's Criticism

Fredrick Nwabufo, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Engagement, responded to Peter Obi's criticism regarding an ongoing legal dispute involving Tinubu in a US district court. Tinubu has requested the court to deny a motion from Aaron Greenspan that seeks the release of records related to investigations involving him, citing privacy provisions under US law.

Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), stated that a sitting president's background is a matter of public interest and criticized Tinubu for attempting to block the release of these records. In his rebuttal, Nwabufo asserted that there is no "imperfect past" for Tinubu, claiming that the issues in the US case have been previously investigated and deemed false.

He also accused Obi of having a troubled governance record in Anambra, citing issues such as religious segregation, kidnappings, and poor infrastructure, claiming to be a witness to Obi's alleged maladministration during that time.
