Sura Affirms Commitment to Plateau's Zoning Arrangement

General John Sura, a retired general and gubernatorial candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Plateau State, declared on Monday that he will not contest the 2027 elections to disrupt the state's zoning arrangement. He stated that he intends to complete the four-year tenure allocated to Plateau Central under the zoning formula, which allows for two terms of eight years for the governorship.

Sura emphasized the need to preserve political stability and peace in the state, warning that attempts to truncate the zoning arrangement could lead to significant damage and instability. He expressed confidence in the ADC's participation in the 2027 general elections and criticized the current administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang for lacking significant achievements.

Sura reiterated his commitment to addressing security challenges in Plateau State and restoring its lost glory, asserting that the time has come for true leadership to emerge in the state.
