Imo State Commends IHS Nigeria, UNICEF for Teacher Training

The Imo State government praised IHS Nigeria and UNICEF for their collaborative effort in a digital training program that empowered 200 teachers and principals from public schools in the state. The training took place in Owerri, Imo State, on July 8, 2026, and was represented by Professor Bernard Thompson Ikegwuoha, who spoke on behalf of the state government.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma emphasized the importance of raising educational standards through digital literacy initiatives. The program is designed to complement existing digital-focused educational systems in the state.

The training involved 100 schools and aimed to enhance teachers' digital skills, ensuring students benefit from improved teaching methods. Participants received training on safe online behavior and the integration of digital tools in classrooms.

Additionally, the program provided free internet routers to participating schools to facilitate better access to educational resources and promote digital citizenship among learners.
