Imo Police Arrest 25 Suspects, Dismantle Criminal Gangs, Recover Arms

The Imo State Police Command has intensified efforts against criminal activities, leading to the arrest of 25 suspects involved in crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, drug peddling, child trafficking, and more. The police spokesperson, Henri Okoy, disclosed that during operations, they recovered four assault rifles, 25 cartridges, two vehicles, three motorcycles, and 35 bags of cannabis sativa.

Among the arrested suspects are individuals linked to the 2021 murders of traditional rulers in Njaba LGA. Notably, a notorious criminal gang leader, Ezeh Chinonso Ugochukwu, confessed to dismantling a camp belonging to the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Orsu Obodo, leading to the recovery of various weapons.

The police command also intercepted drug peddlers and seized a significant amount of illicit substances. Investigations are ongoing, and suspects will be charged accordingly.
