Ihunwo Aligns with Wike's Coalition, Stays Loyal to Fubara

Chijioke Ihunwo, the former caretaker chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area and a previous defender of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his alignment with the Rainbow Coalition, associated with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. In a TVC interview on Thursday, Ihunwo clarified that his decision was not a betrayal of Fubara but a response to the governor's directive for peace in Rivers State.

He emphasized his ongoing loyalty to Fubara, stating, “We are supporting our governor because we want peace in our state.” Ihunwo refuted claims that he and his allies provided poor political advice that exacerbated the crisis, asserting his personal relationship with Fubara. He also rejected calls for a public apology to Wike and others, labeling the individual making the request as an impostor.

Ihunwo expressed that political alliances are fluid and that the current realignment should not be viewed as a defeat for anyone involved.
