FERMA Reports Road Maintenance Boost from Tinubu Funding

The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has reported that increased funding from President Bola Tinubu's administration has significantly bolstered its capacity to maintain and rehabilitate critical roads across Nigeria. Emeka Maduagwu, the Special Assistant to the Managing Director of FERMA, made this statement during a management monitoring tour of road projects in Akwa Ibom State.

The monitoring team inspected ongoing and completed projects in the South-South region, including the Ekparakwa-Azumini Road, Ete-Abak Road, and the Abak-Ekparakwa-Mkpat-East West Road. Maduagwu highlighted that sections of the Ekparakwa-Azumini Road, previously plagued by potholes and failed portions, have been rehabilitated through FERMA’s SUKUK-funded intervention programme.

The improvements reflect the positive impact of the increased funding on road maintenance nationwide. The team also reviewed maintenance works along the Ete-Abak Road and the Abak-Ekparakwa-Mkpat-East West Road, which included treatment of failed sections, removal of unsuitable materials, and provision of drainage infrastructure.
