INEC Dismisses Underage Voter Registration Claims in Osun State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has refuted claims circulating on social media about underage voter registration in the state. The commission, through its Public Affairs Officer, Musa Olurod, clarified that a student from YTD Grammar School in Ojoro was brought to the INEC office with the intent to register as a voter.

INEC emphasized its commitment to upholding the integrity of the voter registration exercise and assured residents that actions capable of undermining the credibility of the process would not be allowed. The commission reminded the public to rely on official communication channels for verified information and urged them to ignore viral social media reports.

INEC highlighted that its operations are guided by the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the amended Electoral Act of 2022.
