INEC Restores Four Constituencies in Delta and Kogi States

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the restoration of four previously suppressed state House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi States, in compliance with court directives. INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, stated that three constituencies were restored in Delta State: Abraka, Isoko North II, and Ughelli South II.

Additionally, one constituency, Yagba West II, was restored in Kogi State. The commission has scheduled party primaries for these constituencies from August 21 to August 25, 2026.

This period coincides with primaries for bye-elections in other constituencies across various states. Elections for the restored constituencies are set for September 19, 2026.

INEC emphasized that all other timelines and activities from the revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 general election will apply to these constituencies and urged political parties to submit notices of their primaries before the scheduled dates.
