INEC Restores Four Constituencies Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has restored four State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi States, as announced in a press statement by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee. This restoration follows court judgments that directed INEC to reinstate previously suppressed constituencies.

The restored constituencies include Abraka, Isoko North II, and Ughelli South II in Delta State, and Yagba West II in Kogi State. INEC has scheduled party primaries for these constituencies from August 21 to August 25, 2026, coinciding with primaries for bye-elections in other constituencies across various states.

Elections for all affected constituencies, including the restored ones, are set for September 19, 2026. INEC reiterated that all other timelines and activities from the revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election will apply to the restored constituencies and urged political parties to submit notices of their primaries ahead of the scheduled dates.
