Nigeria's Security Challenges Require Collaborative Approach

On Thursday, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, asserted that Nigeria’s security challenges require more than just military action. During a courtesy visit from Major-General Adeyinka Famadewa (retd.), the Special Adviser to the President on Homeland Security, Idris emphasized the importance of collaboration among armed forces, security agencies, government at all levels, communities, the media, and the public.

He stated, “You cannot shoot yourself out of this problem,” highlighting the necessity for coordinated efforts to promote peace and national development. Idris reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to enhancing cooperation among security agencies and citizens.

He also pointed out the role of the National Orientation Agency in fostering community resilience and responsible citizenship. Furthermore, he identified fake news and misinformation as significant national security challenges, calling for improved media literacy.

Famadewa noted that the visit aimed to strengthen the working relationship with the ministry, emphasizing the critical role of information and public education in modern homeland security.
