Idris Urges PR Practitioners to Embrace Mentorship

At the maiden Bashir Adamu Chedi Annual Memorial Lecture and Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Kaduna, Nigeria's Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, called on senior public relations practitioners to mentor younger colleagues. He emphasized that professional success should be measured not only by personal achievements but also by the number of individuals one helps to develop.

Idris highlighted the significance of transferring professional experience and preserving institutional memory, warning against starting afresh with each generation. He noted that younger practitioners bring energy and knowledge of emerging technologies, while senior professionals offer experience and wisdom.

Idris urged both groups to collaborate, stressing the need for truth, credibility, integrity, and responsibility in their duties, especially as artificial intelligence and social media evolve the communication landscape. The event was attended by notable figures, including NIPR President Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura and PRCAN Chairman Dr Nkechi Ali-Balogun.
