Soldier Arrested After Governor's Medical Support

Staff Sergeant Amok Simon, a soldier who recently received medical support from Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, was arrested by military authorities due to alleged involvement in a fraud case. Governor Otti had publicly committed to assisting Simon, who sustained injuries while on duty and sought urgent medical help.

Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor's special adviser on media, confirmed the arrest and noted that Simon had previously served in Abia State. The governor's office highlighted their ongoing humanitarian efforts, including financial support for families of military personnel affected by misfortunes.

Despite the controversy surrounding Simon's case, the state government remains committed to providing humanitarian assistance and will not be deterred by the situation. The military authorities clarified that the issue of alleged fraud falls outside the jurisdiction of the state government, which fully supports the Nigerian Army in conducting disciplinary procedures against personnel found wanting.
