Bandits Kidnap University Student in Katsina, Demand N20M

Auwal Ma'ud Shitu, a 300-level student studying Pure Industrial Chemistry at Umaru Musa Yar'Adua University in Katsina State, was kidnapped by bandits on May 17, 2026. The incident occurred while he was traveling from Charanchi to Dutsin-Ma.

The kidnappers have reportedly demanded a ransom of N20 million, an amount that is beyond the financial means of Shitu's family. Friends and community members have been urged to pray for his safe return as insecurity continues to escalate in northern Nigeria, particularly in the northwest region.

The situation reflects the worsening kidnapping crisis affecting communities across the area.
