Oyo State Receives Two Surveillance Aircraft for Security

On Tuesday, the Oyo State Government announced the arrival of two surveillance aircraft in Ibadan, as confirmed by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade. This delivery fulfills the government's earlier promise to have the aircraft operational before the end of July.

The aircraft are intended to bolster security operations through improved intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance, aiding security agencies in Oyo State, including the Amotekun Corps, in monitoring criminal activities and enhancing response efforts. Governor Seyi Makinde was present to receive the aircraft at the airport.

The purchase of the aircraft was initially announced on July 8, 2025, as part of measures to strengthen the capacity of security agencies to address emerging security challenges. On July 18, 2026, Governor Makinde confirmed that the aircraft had arrived in Nigeria and were undergoing re-assembly at the Nigerian Air Force’s hangar in Lagos.
