SMBLF Commends Government's Fight Against Insecurity

The Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) commended the Nigerian federal government and the armed forces for their renewed efforts in combating banditry and insurgency during a general meeting held in Abuja. The forum's chairman, Oladipo Olaitan, acknowledged the successes of the military in improving security in states such as Oyo, Zamfara, and Borno.

SMBLF urged the federal government to enhance its actions against terrorism and banditry, advocating for collaboration with neighboring countries and the international community. Additionally, the forum called for the judiciary to maintain its independence and fulfill its constitutional role in promoting peace and stability.

They also encouraged the Nigerian press to uphold its role as a defender of democracy. Ahead of the 2027 general elections, SMBLF urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the elections are fair, free, and credible.
