Northern Group Commends Military for Anti-Banditry Efforts

The northern advocacy group, led by Mallam Danladi Abutu, praised the Nigerian Armed Forces and Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede for their intensified military operations against banditry and terrorism. The group noted the successful rescue of hundreds of abducted individuals and the neutralization of armed criminals, reflecting a renewed offensive against violent groups in Nigeria.

Recent operations included the rescue of 14 worshippers abducted during a church vigil in Ekiti State on April 28, 2026, and the liberation of 416 residents from Gwoza, Borno State, who were held by suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists. The group emphasized the importance of community cooperation with security agencies to defeat criminal networks and condemned attacks on schools, which threaten the future of the country.

Abutu called for continued support for the military's efforts to ensure safety across Nigeria, asserting that every Nigerian deserves to live and work peacefully.
