Lagos Home Linked to Blacklisted ISIS Financier

The U.S. Department of State has identified Mukhtar Adamu Muhammad as a financier for ISIS, linking him to a residence at No. 45 Abimbola Street, Morkaz, Agege, Lagos.

The property, described as a dark cream bungalow, has been unoccupied for two years, according to local residents who were unaware of any connection to terrorism. Following the U.S. sanctions imposed on Muhammad on June 22, 2026, the neighborhood has become a focal point for scrutiny, with residents expressing disbelief over the allegations.

Muhammad is associated with three Nigerian bureau de change firms implicated in financing ISIS operations across West Africa. Local residents described the area as peaceful, primarily inhabited by Hausa people, and noted increased police patrols following the announcement of the sanctions.

The community has a history of tranquility, and many were surprised to learn of the international attention drawn to their street.
