INTERPOL NCB Recovers Stolen Vehicles from Burkina Faso

The INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja successfully recovered and repatriated two vehicles—a 2018 Lexus SUV and a 2025 Toyota Hilux truck—that were stolen at gunpoint from their drivers in Abuja. The Lexus was taken on August 3, 2025, and the Toyota Hilux on February 20, 2026.

Following requests for assistance from the Special Adviser to the Nigerian President on Energy and the Office of the Federal Capital Territory Primary Health Care Board, INTERPOL NCB Abuja collaborated with INTERPOL NCB Ouagadougou to trace the vehicles. The operation involved the Office of the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Nigerian Ambassador to Burkina Faso, and intelligence counterparts at NCB Ouagadougou.

Both vehicles were successfully traced, recovered, and repatriated to Nigeria, where they were handed over to representatives of the aforementioned offices. During the operation, a suspect named Issoufou Nagimou was arrested and charged before the High Court of Burkina Faso.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to international police cooperation and the pursuit of criminal syndicates involved in cross-border vehicle trafficking.
