IPCC Invites Review of Climate Change Report Draft

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has opened registration for governments and experts to review the second draft of its special report on climate change in cities. Co-chair of Working Group II, Winston Chow, stated that the review process is crucial for ensuring scientific rigor and transparency.

The second draft will incorporate feedback from the first draft, which received 32,000 comments from 1,365 registered experts worldwide. The review period for the second draft will run from May 8 to July 3, 2026, with the final report scheduled for release in March 2027.

This special report will be the first published in the seventh assessment cycle and aims to assess the latest science related to climate change impacts, risks, and adaptation options for urban areas. The IPCC emphasizes the importance of diverse perspectives in shaping climate action globally.
