Israel Withdraws Support for Infantino Before FIFA Election

The Israel Football Association, led by Chairman Shino Moshe Zuares, has officially withdrawn its endorsement of FIFA president Gianni Infantino in light of escalating tensions within the organization and among various confederations. In a letter to FIFA, Zuares described the situation as an “unprecedented crisis of trust,” highlighting serious disagreements that have emerged.

He noted that the split between FIFA and the European confederation, along with other continental bodies, is fundamental and deep-seated, compelling Israel to reconsider its support. Zuares expressed hope for future mediation between FIFA and the confederations.

This withdrawal follows criticism of Infantino's management, particularly regarding the controversial introduction of private funding into FIFA's World Cup tournaments. Infantino is campaigning for his third consecutive term as FIFA president, with the election scheduled for next year.
