Goje Denies Yahaya Retired Him from Politics

Mohammed Danjuma Goje, the former Governor of Gombe State and current Senator representing Gombe Central, has dismissed allegations that Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya pushed him out of politics. In an interview with BBC Hausa on Tuesday, Goje clarified that he voluntarily decided not to contest in the 2027 election, a decision he attributes to his belief in allowing younger politicians to take over.

He expressed acceptance of the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary, where he lost the party's ticket, viewing it as the will of Allah. Goje stated, “It was not Inuwa Yahaya who retired me from politics.

It was Allah who decided that I would not continue with this matter.” He mentioned that he had previously resolved not to seek another term in the Senate as far back as 2019 but was persuaded to contest again. Goje emphasized that he does not see his failure to secure the APC ticket as a betrayal and remains grateful for his political journey.
