Iyabo Obasanjo Clarifies Father's Age Ahead of 90th Birthday

Iyabo Obasanjo clarified the actual age of her father, the elder statesman, stating that he is expected to celebrate his 90th birthday next year. She noted that there is a discrepancy in his age, as official records indicate he is 92 years old.

This confusion stems from how birth records were managed in rural communities at the time of his birth. Iyabo explained that her father was born in a small village in Ifo Local Government, specifically in Ibogun, where there was no primary school during his childhood.

Children had to trek to neighboring hamlets to attend school. She mentioned that when her father was enrolled in school, he became aware of the official age recorded, which has remained unchanged over the years.

Therefore, while he is officially recorded as 92, he will be 90 next year.
