IYC Advocates Peaceful Resolution in Eruani-Daukoru Dispute

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide has expressed its commitment to achieving a peaceful resolution to the legal dispute between Dr Azibapu Eruani, President of Azikel Group, and Mr Kariyai Daukoru. Barr. (Dr) Ayebakuro Igbeta Itari, the National Secretary of IYC, stated that the council's intervention followed the inauguration of its 10th National Executive Council (NEC) on July 22.

The IYC has engaged both parties and the Bayelsa State Government to de-escalate the situation, which involves ongoing legal proceedings related to contractual claims and allegations of criminal defamation and cyberstalking. The IYC initially sought to facilitate Daukoru's release from Kuje Correctional Centre and encouraged Eruani to consider withdrawing the criminal proceedings against Daukoru.

Eruani, however, indicated that he would only consider this if Daukoru showed genuine remorse and issued a public apology. The IYC also raised the matter with Gov.

Douye Diri, who stated that the situation had not reached a point requiring direct intervention.
