Jigawa State Launches Digital Revenue Collection System

Jigawa State has commenced a digitized revenue collection initiative aimed at blocking revenue leakage and improving accountability. This major move, announced during a stakeholder engagement in Dutse, the state capital, involves collaboration with eTranzact International PLC and the Jigawa Intern Revenue Service.

The new electronic system is designed to replace manual revenue collection processes, allowing for real-time transaction tracking and ensuring direct remittance to government accounts. The platform was unveiled on Wednesday and is expected to enhance the state’s internal revenue generation amidst increasing demands for public services.

Gabriel Essien, Deputy General Manager and Group Head of Public Sector Division at eTranzact, stated that the platform will transform revenue administration by providing real-time visibility and eliminating revenue leakages. The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen the state’s financial capacity, particularly in light of the growing pressure to fund infrastructure and social services.
