CSW Nigeria Empowers Gombe Widows with Vocational Skills

On August 24, 2026, CSW Nigeria initiated an empowerment program in Gombe aimed at equipping widows with vocational skills and start-up equipment to improve their livelihoods. The program focuses on fashion design and other income-generating skills, specifically targeting widows who had not previously benefited from CSW Nigeria's interventions.

Alice Nmadu, the Training Officer for CSW Nigeria, stated that the training team traveled from Kaduna to reach these overlooked widows. The initiative is supported by donors from Canada and includes training in tailoring and the provision of milling machines for older widows who may struggle with sewing machines.

Beneficiaries will receive start-up kits containing necessary materials to utilize their new skills. CSW Nigeria has implemented measures to ensure that the equipment and materials are used appropriately and not sold or misappropriated by relatives.

This program is part of CSW Nigeria's broader efforts to enhance the economic resilience of vulnerable widows and positively impact their communities.
