Jigawa Pension Board Trains Auditors to Enhance Skills

The Jigawa State Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board organized a two-day workshop for internal auditors to enhance their skills and improve the effectiveness of audits within the local government system. The workshop, held in the conference room of the scheme's executive secretariat in Dutse, was facilitated by Dr.

Bilyaminu Shittu, who emphasized the need to address critical challenges faced by audit staff. Key issues identified included the absence of a comprehensive schedule of duties, late submissions of audit reports, and a lack of documented audit guidelines.

Shehu Kaila described the initiative as a valuable step towards improving staff skills and service quality. The training aimed to foster collaboration among stakeholders and minimize misunderstandings that often lead to friction between auditors and other departments.

The workshop also focused on developing a comprehensive schedule of duties and creating an audit manual to strengthen compliance and internal controls within the pension scheme.
