Jigawa Women Support DSS in Walida Abdulhadi Case

On February 26, 2026, hundreds of women in Jigawa State marched in support of the Department of State Services (DSS) as it handles the case of Walida Abdulhadi, a 22-year-old woman who was allegedly abducted and impregnated by DSS operatives. Walida went missing in Hadejia, Jigawa State in November 2023, and her father contacted the DSS on January 1, 2026, when they informed him that she had given birth and was ready for marriage.

The DSS has since arrested an officer and is cooperating with the Inspector General of Police and the National Security Adviser to investigate the matter. The women, led by Aisha Aliyu and Salma Abdullahi, gathered at the Maiqwarya roundabout and marched to the government house, carrying banners thanking the DSS for their support of Walida.

Governor Umar Namadi has emphasized the importance of Walida's welfare and rehabilitation, and the case is currently in court, with various stakeholders involved in the investigation.
