Tinubu Welcomes NBA President-Elect Badejo-Okusanya

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu received Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja after her historic election as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

Badejo-Okusanya's election marks a significant milestone as she is the first woman to be democratically elected to lead the NBA. In the national election held on Saturday, she secured 12,317 votes, accounting for 47.18 percent of the total votes cast, defeating her closest rivals, Lateef Akangbe, SAN, who received 7,934 votes, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, who garnered 5,855 votes.

Following the election results, President Tinubu congratulated her, describing the victory as a testament to merit, excellence, and gender inclusion in leadership roles within Nigeria's professional bodies. The meeting at Aso Rock is part of ongoing engagements between the Federal Government and key stakeholders in the legal and justice sector as the new NBA leadership prepares to assume office.
