Funso Doherty Named NDC Lagos Guber Candidate for 2027

Funso Doherty has emerged as the governorship candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 Lagos State elections. He formally accepted his nomination on a Friday, expressing gratitude to the party and describing the nomination as a call to serve with humility and purpose.

Doherty pledged to promote inclusive leadership and shared a post on social media showcasing his acceptance letter alongside a campaign poster declaring him the NDC flag bearer. He emphasized the need for real work to begin in Lagos, stating that the state deserves inclusive governance.

Recently, Doherty defected to the NDC from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after leaving the People's Democratic Party (PDP). His move is part of ongoing realignments within opposition parties, which aim to create a unified platform against the ruling party.

He called for support and described the political journey ahead as challenging.
