Gunmen Kill 18 Farmers in Plateau State Attack

In a late-night attack on Sunday, gunmen killed no fewer than 18 farmers in Kawel Village, located in the Musher District of Bokko Local Government Area, Plateau State. The incident, which occurred around 11:30 PM, was confirmed on Monday by Christoph Luka, a youth leader in Bokko.

Luka reported that the attack was unprovoked and that gunmen shot at approximately 20 people, resulting in 18 confirmed deaths. He alerted security agencies around midnight following the assault.

The attack is part of a recent wave of violence in the area, with less than five days prior, the district head of Gwand LGA, Samuel Alaket, was killed in an ambush. Luka emphasized the need for urgent action from security agencies to prevent further escalation in the region.

As of the report, no official statement had been issued by any security agency regarding the incident.
