Five Farmers Killed in Plateau Attack Amid Security Concerns

On a recent afternoon, five farmers were shot dead by gunmen in Gero Village, located 15 to 20 kilometers from the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State. The victims were reportedly engaged in mining activities when the assailants invaded the site and opened fire.

Dalyop, a spokesperson for the victims, confirmed the incident, which has been linked to growing security threats in the region. Rwang Tengwong, representing the Berom Youth Moulder Association, expressed concern for the safety of residents following this violent attack.

The incident also resulted in the deaths of three security personnel, highlighting the escalating violence in the area. A call for urgent security intervention has been made to prevent further attacks and restore confidence among affected communities.

The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Alabo Alfr, stated that he was not aware of the incident and had not briefed the office at the time of the report.
