Soldiers Foil Terrorist Attack at Benue Yam Market

Soldiers from Operation Whirl Stroke, in collaboration with the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, successfully foiled a suspected terrorist attack on the Donga Yam Market in Benue State. The operation occurred on a Sunday following a distress call.

During the engagement, troops made contact with the attackers, resulting in a firefight where two identified terrorists, Dantaraba and Golozo, were killed. The troops recovered significant military items, including an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, a damaged pistol, six rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and nine rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, along with ATM cards.

Maj. Gen. Mose Gara, the Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, commended the troops for their swift and professional response, which prevented significant civilian casualties and allowed for the continuation of commercial activities in the market. He also thanked the residents for providing timely intelligence and urged the public to continue supporting security agencies.
