Troops Foil Terrorist Attack at Benue Market, Recover Arms

On Sunday, troops from the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, in collaboration with the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, responded to a distress call regarding a terrorist attack at Donga Yam Market in Benue State. Upon receiving the information, the troops mobilized to the market and engaged the terrorists, successfully neutralizing two suspects identified as Dantaraba and Golozo.

The operation resulted in the recovery of significant arms, including two AK-47 rifles, magazines, a damaged pistol, and various ammunition types. Additionally, items believed to belong to the terrorists, such as ATM cards and cash, were also recovered.

Major General Mose Gara commended the troops for their professionalism and swift response, which prevented significant civilian casualties and allowed commercial activities at the market to continue without disruption. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal elements in the area and highlights the importance of public cooperation in providing credible information to security agencies.
