Hoodlums Attack Governor Adeleke's Convoy in Osogbo

On Wednesday, a tense situation unfolded in Osogbo, Osun State, when suspected hoodlums attacked the convoy of Governor Ademola Adeleke shortly after his visit to the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji. The attack occurred around 3:15 PM, following Adeleke's receipt of his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Eyewitnesses reported that gunfire erupted as Adeleke was leaving the palace, with assailants arriving in an unregistered Sienna space bus. The shooting lasted approximately 12 to 15 minutes, during which the governor's security personnel exchanged gunfire with the attackers.

Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, confirmed that the assailants were repelled and that no casualties were reported. The incident caused widespread panic, prompting traders and residents to flee for safety, and sporadic gunfire continued to be heard in the area as of 4:45 PM.
