Davido Denies Involvement in Osogbo Gunfire Incident

On Wednesday, a gunfire incident occurred outside the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, following an attack on Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke's convoy by suspected hoodlums. Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, stated via his official X account that the incident had nothing to do with him or his uncle, Governor Adeleke.

He emphasized, “It was a fight outside the palace that had nothing to do with us! The pple love excellency!” Eyewitnesses reported that the gunfire exchange between the assailants and the governor’s security personnel lasted between 12 and 15 minutes, causing panic among nearby traders and residents.

Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, confirmed the attack, stating that the governor’s security successfully repelled the assailants and that there were no casualties. This incident coincided with Adeleke receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission following his re-election as governor.
