Kaduna State Prosecutes 24 Suspects in Mob Killing

The Kaduna State government has welcomed the arraignment of 24 suspects connected to the mob killing of a woman in Maraban Jos. This development was described as a significant step toward justice by the state government.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahm Maiyaki, condemned the mob violence and warned that anyone taking the law into their own hands would face the full weight of the law. Governor Uba Sani reiterated the administration's commitment to protecting lives and property and emphasized that extrajudicial actions would not be tolerated.

The incident, which triggered widespread public outrage, underscored the dangers of mob actions, prompting the Commissioner to urge citizens to report any suspicions to the appropriate security agencies rather than resorting to violence. The Kaduna State Police Command announced that the suspects were charged with criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, mischief, destruction of public property, and culpable homicide.

The case has been adjourned until July 21, 2026, for further hearing.
