Kaduna Communities Demand Relief After Home Demolitions

Residents from 10 communities in Igabi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State have urgently appealed to Governor Uba Sani and the Federal Government for relief following the demolition of their homes and seizure of farmlands approximately one year ago. The communities affected include Anguwan Mallam Auta, Anguwan Musa, Anguwan Danjuma, Anguwan Loye, Anguwan Alhassan, Anguwan Yohanna, Anguwan Aboki, Anguwan Guruza, Labar, and Ringa.

Dama John, Sarkin Kabilu of Sabon Garin Wusono, stated that over 70 individuals have died due to trauma and hardship since the demolitions, which occurred despite a pending court case regarding the land lasting eight years. He noted that many residents are now displaced and struggling to survive, with some living in mosques and churches.

The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency has documented the affected residents, but updates from the state government have been lacking. The community's agricultural activities have been severely impacted, leading to increased poverty and distress among residents.
