NDC Candidate Mohammed Abbas Rejects Imposition Claims

The campaign organization of Mohammed Abbas, the governorship candidate for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kaduna State, has dismissed allegations of his imposition as the party's candidate. This response followed claims from some aggrieved party members who stated that no valid primary election was conducted to select the candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Alhaji Ibrahim Kaya, the Coordinator of the OK Movement and Protem Director-General of the Mohammed Sani Abbas Campaign Organisation, asserted that Abbas was duly confirmed and nominated by the NDC's national leadership after following the appropriate processes. Kaya emphasized that disagreements among party members are typical in politics and should not be misconstrued as a crisis.

He also refuted claims regarding the improper acquisition of Abbas's nomination form, stating that he was officially nominated on June 7, 2026. The aggrieved members, represented by Isaac Tanko, claimed that the primary election did not occur on May 29, 2026, as directed by the party's Electoral Committee.
