Youth Initiative Deploys 282 Tractors to Boost Agribusiness

The Improving Smallholder Farmers’ Access to Small-Scale Agricultural Mechanization Services (ISSAM) program, implemented by TracTrac Mechanization Services Limited in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, has deployed 282 three-wheeled tractors in Kaduna and Nasarawa States. This initiative aims to equip young entrepreneurs with practical skills and expand mechanized farming services.

The latest phase includes an additional 128 tractors following the initial rollout of 154 tractors in 2025. The program has established 282 youth-led cooperatives with 1,974 trained Mechanization Service Providers (MSPs), providing services to over 2,000 smallholder farmers.

Each tractor is equipped with a disc plow, harrow, planter, and trailer bucket, enhancing land preparation and farm productivity. Godson Ohuruogu, CEO of TracTrac Mechanization Services Limited, stated that the program aims to create long-term economic opportunities for youth and strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural value chain, emphasizing the creation of sustainable agribusinesses.
