Senator Kalu Clarifies Support for Electronic Result Transmission Amid Viral Video Controversy

Senator Kalu addressed the Senate, clarifying his support for electronic result transmission and dismissing a viral video opposing the process. He explained the amendments to the Electoral Act, particularly clause 60(3), allowing the President to send election results electronically once Form EC8A is properly filled and signed at the polling unit.

Kalu highlighted the need for a balanced approach to technology use to safeguard voter communication, especially in areas with weak network coverage. He emphasized that in cases of system failure, the signed Form EC8A would serve as a valid record of results.

Kalu also addressed an old video circulating online, stating that it does not reflect his current position, as during the 9th Senate, he had concerns about limited access to computers, unstable power supply, and misunderstandings that led to confusion regarding his stance on electronic result transmission.
