Kano State Bans 'After-Party' and 'Hot Challenge' Activities

The Kano State Censorship Board has announced the immediate suspension of activities known as "after-party" and "hot challenge" at wedding ceremonies and other social events across the state. This decision was communicated by the Executive Secretary, Abba El-Mustapha, through a statement from the board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sulaiman, on Saturday.

The board cited concerns over these activities being perceived as Western cultural practices that conflict with the cultural, moral, and religious values of the people of Kano State. The suspension aims to ensure compliance with regulations governing event activities and to promote responsible entertainment that aligns with local customs and religious teachings.

The board has directed all event centres, masters of ceremonies, and event planners to adhere to this directive, warning that violations may result in legal sanctions. Residents are encouraged to report any event centres or MCs engaging in the suspended activities.
