Kano State Empowers 1,900 Butchers with Tools

On Thursday, the Kano State Government, led by Governor Abba Yusuf, distributed work tools to no fewer than 1,900 selected butchers from 44 local government areas. This initiative is part of an economic empowerment program aimed at strengthening small businesses, reducing poverty, and improving food safety across Kano State.

During the event at the Government House, Governor Yusuf stressed the importance of maintaining strict hygiene standards in meat processing, which he described as non-negotiable. He warned that poor sanitary practices could expose consumers to foodborne diseases and emphasized that hygienic practices are foundational to ensuring safe and quality meat products.

Yusuf urged the beneficiaries to utilize the support to expand their businesses, create jobs, and improve their livelihoods. Alhaji Nasiru Isyaku, the chairman of the Kano State Butcher Association, described the intervention as unprecedented and commended Governor Yusuf for recognizing the butchers' contributions to food security and public health.
