Kano Governor Launches Probe into Student's Death

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf approved the formation of an administrative investigative committee to probe the circumstances surrounding the death of a student from St. Louis College, Kano. The committee, chaired by Alhaji Ali Makoda, includes members such as Aminu Hussain, Hamza Dantani, and Abubakar Umar, among others.

The committee's tasks include conducting an independent investigation, establishing a timeline of events, identifying lapses in supervision, and reviewing the welfare management procedures of the institution. The committee will also evaluate complaints regarding bullying, coercion, and unauthorized disciplinary practices.

Additionally, it will assess the social environment within the college and recommend reforms to the disciplinary board and school management systems. The committee is expected to submit its findings and recommendations within a stipulated timeframe.

This initiative follows a formal petition from the mother of the deceased student, Maimuna Sani Salisu Nan, through her lawyer, Nusaiba Rabi U Dan Sheriff.
